What are surgical instruments?

Surgical instruments are tools or devices that are used to perform specific actions or carry out desired effects during a surgery or operation. We usually make them of stainless steel and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The most common types of surgical instruments include forceps, scissors, knives, hemostats, and needle holders.

The following is the usage of the surgical instruments.

1. Scalpels

Scalpels are sharp blades used to make incisions in the skin. They are often used to open wounds, perform biopsies, and amputate limbs. A scalpel blade is made out of stainless steel and may have a variety of shapes depending on its intended use.

2. Forceps

Forceps are tong-like devices used to grasp small objects. They are commonly used in dentistry to hold dental floss or cotton swabs. In medicine, they are used to pick up small pieces of tissue or bone fragments.

3. Scissors

Scissors are similar to shears, except that they have two parallel blades instead of just one. They are used to cut hair, paper, cloth, and other materials.

4. Clamps

Clamps are metal rings that are placed around something to keep it still while being worked on. Clamps are used in dentistry to keep teeth still while being pulled or drilled out.

5. Needles

Needles are long thin pointed objects that are used to pierce things. They are used in medical procedures to inject medications or fluids.

6. Knives

Knives are sharp-edged tools used to cut food and other items. They are used in dentistry and the kitchen to slice bread, vegetables, and meat.

7. Saw

A saw is a tool used to cut wood, stone, and other hard materials. Saws are used in construction, carpentry, and landscaping.
